Space. Fresh air. Inspiration. Freedom to do whatever. Our hotels are surrounded by glorious open countryside, creating a stunning backdrop for your stay or event. From the idyllic Cotswolds to the rugged moors, our locations are awe-inspiring.

Calcot is set in over 220 acres of rolling meadowland, near the charming market town of Tetbury in the famous Cotswolds. Charming, historic towns and villages built from honey-hued stone, tumbling hills, lavender horizons, wildlife, walks and waterparks—they’re all on offer. What’s more, they’re all on our doorstep.

We have 35 beautiful bedrooms, including suites in all shapes and sizes and two-floored cottages with separate bedrooms—ideal for families. With so much outdoor space, there’s lots to do (or not, that’s up to you!) Choose from tennis courts, climbing frames, an outdoor pool, running routes, cycle tracks, a disc golf course and even a woodland gymnasium.

With an indoor pool, secluded courtyard, hot tub and log fires, a gym and multiple treatment rooms stocked with the best therapists and world-class products, Calcot is renowned as one of the most luxurious spa hotels in the Cotswolds.

Calcot also offers imaginative and seasonal fine dining at The Conservatory, or perhaps a more relaxed bite at The Gumstool Inn. Our lounges always beckon you to just relax and sink into a big armchair with a decadent afternoon tea by the fire.

Barnsley House

Situated in the centre of the Cotswold village of Barnsley, this is a country hotel like no other. Set in exquisite landscaped gardens designed by the revered gardener Rosemary Verey (worth a day out in their own right) Barnsley House is reminiscent of a stunning stately home, with grounds to match. It’s truly a fairy tale country retreat steeped in peace and quiet luxury.

The hotel has 18 large and luxurious bedrooms to choose from, a dedicated spa and even a private cinema.

The Potager restaurant overlooks the idyllic gardens. Sprigs of rosemary and linen napkins dress the tables with menus inspired from seasonal crops harvested from our gardens, along with local produce. If you tire of the daily home-baked bread and crumbly shortbread biscuits with your afternoon tea, you can always nip across the road to our very own pub. Actually called The Village Pub it offers everything you would want your classic country local to deliver—open fires, papers, pints—and of course, delicious food.

The Painswick

The Painswick is our very first restaurant-with-rooms… or as we like to call it, feasts and the rest.

Set in its namesake, the village of Painswick, (also known as “Queen of the Cotswolds”) the hotel draws on its fantastic location tucked into the hillside overlooking the Slad Valley—and its very arty and historic neighbours.

Originally built in late 18th century at the height of the wool trade, the building has a fascinating history of different owners and uses over many years. We were lucky enough to snap up this gorgeous Palladian masterpiece in 2015 and have worked to bring her securely back to her grand village roots.

As a designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you can make your way through a tapestry of farmland, wild meadows and ancient woodlands to Painswick Beacon, to explore the Iron Age Fort. No wellies? No worries—we have plenty!

The famous Painswick Rococo Gardens are just down the street and we’re close to the towns of Burford, Chipping Norton, Cirencester, Woodstock and Tetbury. We love a bit of culture too, with the legendary Art Couture Festival Painswick annually and with Cheltenham just 10 miles away, the Literary Festival and Jazz Festivals are a must.

Why not use The Painswick as your base to explore everything this marvellous area has to offer?  We’ve got sweet-sixteen bedrooms, all with something truly special.

The Lord Crewe Arms

Swept up in the wilds of the north Pennine moors, holding court over the honey-stoned village of Blanchland and crafted by plucky twelfth-century monks who headed for the Northumbrian hilltops in search of celestial isolation, The Lord Crewe Arms is just the spot for the perfect country hideaway. Corbridge, Hexham and Hadrian’s Wall are only 30 minutes away.

Disappear into the twists, turns and discoveries of a once-upon-a-time Abbot’s guest house. Wallow in the warmth of our 21 bedrooms, soothed lovingly with Pennine hues. Relish in the spoils of The Bishop’s Dining Room and The Hilyard, where food harks heritage and skill. Top up in our medieval vaulted pub The Crypt, or simply while away a quiet hour or two in the soft dappled glow of our ancient fireplaces.

The moors shout out for adventure right on the doorstep, so head out, plot north, walk, cycle, explore, before coming home to take off your boots, hang your hat and stay awhile.
