The perfect country pub would have a generous stock of Cotswolds craft ales, a keg or two of crisp West Country ciders tapped ready to quaff and a good few bottles of a Sommelier’s most favoured wine stash. Then, (for the cherry on top) add to the mix a delicious serving of country cuisine, some trusty shots of community spirit, armchairs that beg for you to fall into them and six very good-looking bedrooms bursting with soft hues. You’ve found yourself at our Village Pub, just across the road from beautiful Barnsley House.
Food here is soulful, seasonal, hearty and really good fun to eat—the kind of food which simply cooked, cleverly showcases Great British produce at its very best.
Expect traditional butcher’s cuts picked from Paddock Farm, just at the bottom of the road… Bacon jam stewed all day (if you haven’t tried it, heck you haven’t lived)… Top-of-the-crop veg from Barnsley’s kitchen gardens… Ridiculously chunky chips and chef’s favourite, home-rolled quail and black pudding scotch eggs which, we think, are the most perfect accompaniment to a crisp Cotswold draft.
